"Care Starts with Me" Student Leadership Keynote
My student leadership program is based on empowering student leaders of ALL ages to have an attitude of "Care Starts with ME" and "Be an example for others to follow!" The biggest challenge of leadership and caring is when others around you are not caring. Especially if they are friends, family and classmates who give you "The LOOK" of negativity and disapproval as you cheer, participate, put your hand up in class or are nice to someone. This segment challenges the youth leaders NOT to let "The LOOK" change them and have an attitude of "The Look Bounces off Me!" Filmed in the spring of 2013 at King's University College at Western University (My Alma Mater). The audience was a high school student leadership conference for Catholic high school leaders from the Niagara Region of Ontario.

"Share Your Care" School Assembly
|
One of my two school assemblies is "Share Your Care". This 10 minute clip opens with an excellent review of my assembly, where I reveal my top 3 favourite examples of care: #3 Show UP. #2 Participate. #1 Listen. This video then has my hilarious and inspiring piece on the power of being a good listener in school. This particular version of the assembly is for grades 6-12. This video highlights the most unique quality about my school assemblies. Note how much I reference actual events and activities from the host school. When you book my assembly, I ensure that your activities are promoted and complimented to increase participation and awareness. This was filmed April, 2013 at Christ the King Secondary School, Georgetown, Ontario, for a grade 9, 10 audience. I apologize for the sometimes shaky nature of the video taping, but, the audio is good quality and it gives you an excellent idea of the content, energy, comedy and impact of my school assemblies.

"Share Your Care - Let Yourself Participate!" School Assembly
|
Filmed in the spring of 2016 at Mitchell Hepburn Elementary school, St. Thomas, Ontario. In my "Share your Care" assembly, for grades 1-12, I offer up my top 3 examples of caring. #3, Show UP! To class, to events, to activities, to practice, to work. #2 Participate! This clip shows this piece of the program, including a very specific reference to this school's "Super Hero" dress up day happening that day. My #1 example of care is Listen, which this audience does a great job of doing.

"Share Your Care - The Care Bubble" School Assembly
Filmed in the spring of 2016 at Mitchell Hepburn Elementary School in St. Thomas, Ontario in front of a grade 5-8 audience. A clip of my “Share your Care” assembly which has versions for all grades 1 to 12. This particular clip is a great example of a school giving me a large list of events and activities and how I incorporate this in my program. What makes my presentations unique is that I promote your activities in my assemblies to increase participation in your events while providing recognition of past successes.

"Get Your Hand Up! - You Can Get Better" School Assembly
|
Filmed in the spring of 2016 in front of grades 7s and 8s from the Waterloo area of Ontario. The event was the annual Youth Symposium for this age group that I have spoken at every year since 2003. This 5 minute segment of my "Get Your hand UP" speech is set between my revelation that I was cut from the football team in grade 9 and why I did not try out again for the football team in grade 10. I approached my opportunity to try out again for football with the wrong attitude. I should have been thrilled for the opportunity to try again, but, I missed that. Instead, I focused on what happened on the negative of what happened the year before and did not even bother trying out. I also missed the opportunity to try out for something else. Overall, it is part of my underlying message in my school assembly that "You Can Get Better" at things like sports, confidence, talent, academics, but only if you don't quit and stop being so hard on yourself.

"Get Your Hand Up Grads" - Grade 12 Program
Conclusion with "How I Became a Speaker"
Filmed in 2013 at Sandalwood Heights Secondary, Brampton, Ontario, as I concluded a 75 minute program for the grade 12's called "Get Your Hand UP Grads". This story gives you an idea of my high energy speaking style, comedy, and use of stories to get across a message. In this example, how a spirit of volunteering and caring led me to my career as a professional speaker. In my version of the assembly for grades 6-11, they get a shorter version of this story.

"Try Your Best", Part of Andy's "Get Your Hand Up" Assembly for Schools
|
My "Get Your Hand UP" assembly has versions for grades 6 to the final year of college/university. What is "Get Your Hand UP!" challenge students to do? 4 things. 1. Answer Questions in Class. (Wrong answers lead to right answers). 2. Ask Questions. (I Need Help - Can I get help? How Can I do Better?) 3. Try Your Best. (Get 99% on the most important subjects you are taught in school: Show Up. On Time. Get Your Work Done. Good Attitude. 4. Volunteer. Unfortunately, with typical 50-70 minute assemblies, I rarely get to do this 7 minute piece on Try Your Best. I share it here. This particular program was filmed at a graduation breakfast, May 2013, Cousino High School, Warren Michigan. The try your best segment is always part of the program when I am given more than 75 minutes, or by request, or for my grade 12 grad programs. This content gives a great idea of my style and content.
